Born on 30th July 1968 at Molayanur  in Dharmapuri District of Tamilnadu, India. He was graduated in Botany at Madras University in the year 1989. He obtained his post graduation degree in Botany from Annamalai University, Tamilnadu, in the year 1992. He completed his M.Phil in Biotechnology at Bharathiar University in the year 1993.He worked as Junior Research Fellow at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, Tamilnadu in 1996 .

 

He received his Ph.D Doctorate degree in Biotechnology with specialization in Microbial Biotechnology from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore in the year 2000. He gained further research experience as Research Fellow at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, Tamilnadu from 2000 to 2001. He served as Endowed Professor at Chonbuk National University, Chonju, South Korea from 2001 to 2002. He gained his post doctoral Research experience at Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), Pointe-Claire. Quebec, Canada in the year 2003 to 2004.

 

He started his career as a lecturer in the Department of Biotechnology at P.S.G. College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore in the year 2004 to 2005. He joined Dr. N.G.P. Arts and Science College, Kalapatti Road, Coimbatore-48, TamilNadu in the year 2005 and is currently the Professor and Head of the Department of Biotechnology. His field of major scientific interest includes Environmental Biotechnology, Microbial Biotechnology and Molecular biology. He is the principal investigator of UGC Major Research project entitled “Identification and Exploitation of Wood rot fungi from Western Ghats area for Biotechnological processes.” 

 

He has published 35 research articles at National and International level. He has guided 15 M.Phil scholars and is presently guiding 4 M.Phil and 8 Ph.D scholars in the field of Biotechnology. He is also the member of Board of Studies in the Board of Biotechnology at Bharathiar University and various autonomous colleges affiliated to it.
